A practical guide to buying abroad
How to order from an overseas furniture manufacturer: from idea to specification
A good order begins with a brief the manufacturer can understand unambiguously. It reduces guesswork and makes offers comparable.
In this guide
Describe the pieces you need
Make a list by room. Add photos or links, approximate dimensions, quantities and important features: seating comfort, material, colour, storage or the ability to disassemble. Indicate which requirements are essential and where alternatives are possible.
Check dimensions and access
Along with the installation space, consider doorways, corners, stairs and the lift. Clarify packaging dimensions and whether furniture can be disassembled. Agree who is responsible for initial measurements and checking compatibility with the space.
State your total purchase budget
Provide the delivery city, preferred period and a budget including services and delivery. If you have already found a manufacturer, include its offer and correspondence. This will immediately show which information is missing.
Obtain comparable offers
Request the same configuration from each supplier. Compare price, materials, finishes, production, packaging, handover terms and offer validity. Check who is acting as the seller.
Agree the final specification
Record the pieces, quantities, dimensions, finishes and agreed samples. Put verbal clarifications into the order documents. A reference image does not replace a description of the materials and construction of the chosen model.
Define payment and handover
Before transferring funds, agree the transaction parties, payment recipients, documents, payment schedule, pre-dispatch inspection and acceptance procedure. The feasibility of ordering and delivery to Russia is confirmed for the specific furniture and terms.
What to send the bureau
A list of pieces, links or photos, dimensions, budget and delivery city is enough. If some information is missing, we will start by clarifying the brief. A completed interior design project is not required for an initial enquiry.
